I’ve spent my entire life collecting ideas. Some became photographs. Some became drawings. Others turned into bits of code, half-finished sketches, notes in a notebook, or thoughts that disappeared as quickly as they arrived.
After retiring, I realized something: I wasn’t looking for another chatbot. I’ve been experimenting with all the chatbots and it’s helped spawn new ideas to an extent but I want something more robust and personal.
I also enjoy a challenge.
I wanted to see if I could use all of the tools and experience at my disposal to build a creative companion that would push my creativity to another level. Not something that creates *for* me, but something that helps me remember, connect, question, and explore the ideas that have accumulated over a lifetime.
So I’ve decided to build one.
This isn’t about replacing creativity with AI. It’s about exploring whether technology can help me become more creative. Can it remind me of an old sketch at exactly the right moment? Can it connect a photograph I took years ago to a p5.js experiment I’m working on today? Can it help me see patterns I’ve overlooked?
I don’t know the answers yet.
That’s what makes this exciting.
I’ll be building everything locally, learning as I go, making plenty of mistakes, and sharing what I discover along the way. Some ideas will fail. Others might surprise me. Either outcome is worth documenting.
For me, this isn’t really an AI project, it’s a creativity project. The AI is simply another tool in the workshop.
We’ll see where it takes us.
On a side note, I know it’s been a minute since my last post, but I’ve been busy exploring and experimenting.
I’m primarily sharing my art on my instagram feed (https://www.instagram.com/ca_martin/) and I’ve started a YouTube channel called Creating Outside The Lines (https://www.youtube.com/@cmartcreations). I’m hoping to add my first video in the coming weeks.
I also plan to move all my art and creativity to my cmartcreations instagram so everything I do creatively will be found consistently via cmartcreations.
